Central Iowa Underwater Search and Recovery Volunteers Meeting

The Monroe Police Department along with other agencies are joining the CIUSR to bring another service to the citizens of Monroe along with other cities and counties. This is a volunteer service and would require some expense on your part. With the several bodies of water near Monroe and the surrounding area we believe this would be a good asset to have available if needed. We have setup a zoom meeting to provide all the information to anyone who is interested in joining. Below is the zoom meeting link scheduled for Thursday the 19th at 6:30pm. This meeting of the Monroe City Council will held electronically.  Chapter 21.8 of the Iowa Code does permit an electronic meeting where all members participate remotely when an in-person meeting is impossible or impractical, which is certainly true during this crisis.  On March 19, 2020, Governor Reynolds issued a Proclamation of Disaster Emergency which included a suspension of Iowa laws that would prevent the use of electronic meetings or the limitation on the number of people present at an in-person meeting site.  Due to the COVID-19 crisis, the City of Monroe will be holding this city council meeting electronically via ZOOM. General Maintenance Position Available

The City of Monroe is seeking qualified applicants for the position of a General Maintenance Employee.  Position will be responsible for assisting with park and cemetery maintenance, street maintenance, water and wastewater systems, and other duties as assigned in the city.  Minimum qualifications are:  high school diploma or GED, valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a CDL.  Position will consist of mowing during spring and summer months.  After one year of employment, employee will be required to get Water Distribution and Wastewater Treatment Certifications.
